Frankfurt Biophysics Award

In the anniversary year of the Oswalt Foundation, a prestigious award for outstanding research in the field of biophysics with a medical focus was presented for the first time. Open nationwide to private individuals, the prize honors excellent contributions that successfully bridge the gap between physical methods and clinical application. An independent jury of experts from the Max Planck Institute for Biophysics as well as members of the foundation’s board evaluated the submitted documents according to strict criteria of scientific excellence, medical relevance, and degree of innovation. The ceremonial presentation took place on July 1, 2022, honoring outstanding researchers whose projects have the potential to significantly improve diagnostic procedures or therapeutic approaches.

With a one-time funding amount of €50,000, the award is specifically aimed at scientists who gain new insights into biophysical processes in vitro and in vivo and translate their results into medical concepts.
