Description

The funding program Early Language Support in Child Education and Care Facilities in Carinthia targets public institutions of early education and care and falls within the thematic areas of Education, Children and Youth, Training & Continuing Education, as well as Work & Social Affairs. The goal is the early, professional bilingual support (German and Slovenian) of children aged between three and six years with insufficient German language skills. Parallel to regular operations, qualified pedagogical offers are provided to create a solid foundation for school entry. Special attention is given to the last two kindergarten years, during which well-founded procedures for language proficiency assessment are employed. Through precise diagnostics, the need for support can be accurately determined and individual learning objectives derived.

The ongoing funding opportunity since 01.09.2023 enables public sponsors, as eligible institutions, to apply for grants at any time. Financial resources are available as grants for personnel-intensive offers and didactic concepts. A key prerequisite is the application of a recognized language-pedagogical concept that equally considers German and Slovenian. Funding is provided for personnel resources, didactic materials, and methodological developments aimed at supporting multilingual children. The funding objective includes the targeted strengthening of early language development to compensate for deficits and ensure equal access to the education system. The program sustainably strengthens language competencies, promotes equal opportunities, and lays the foundation for a successful school career. Close cooperation between institutions and educational professionals contributes to an inclusive, child-friendly learning environment.
