Description
The Commercial Tourism Promotion 2023–2027 – Young Entrepreneurs in Vienna grants young founders and successors of SMEs in the tourism and leisure industry a nationwide subsidy to finance tangible and intangible investments. The aim is to promote sustainable business start-ups and takeovers by supporting investments in buildings, equipment, machinery, as well as software products. In cooperation with the respective federal state, up to 7.5% of eligible costs (max. EUR 500,000) are subsidized to strengthen Austria as an innovative and resource-efficient travel destination. Applications can be submitted once, either before the start or within three years after founding or takeover, and include a thorough assessment of the sustainability of the concept, viability, and regional benefit.
Eligible expenses include, in addition to investments in fixed assets, founder deposits and the purchase price when acquiring a tourism business. Not considered are, for example, value-added tax, ongoing operating costs, and the acquisition of used investment goods, vehicles, or land. Companies must meet the EU SME definition, demonstrate membership in the WKO Federal Division for Tourism and Leisure Industry, and have a business establishment in Austria. Evaluation is based on a coherent business concept, a sound financing plan, and a sustainability check. Required documents include the business concept, financing plan, and information on previous funding. Funding applications can be submitted electronically until December 31, 2027; the guideline is valid until June 30, 2028. All relevant deadlines, formalities, and further details can be found in the current Young Entrepreneurs Guideline of the Federal Ministry for Economy, Energy and Tourism.
