Funding objective
The objectives of the basic funding for sports associations are to ensure professional representation of the interests of competitive club sports in Lower Austria and to guarantee a statewide championship operation through partial support of the expenses of the associations for fulfilling the basic tasks in association operations.

Description
The Basic Funding for Sports Associations of the State of Lower Austria supports recognized non-profit sports associations in professionally fulfilling their core tasks in association operations and securing a statewide championship system. Eligible to apply are Lower Austrian sports associations with valid registration in the association register, recognition by the Lower Austrian State Sports Council, and regular membership in the Lower Austrian Sports Association Council. Funding is provided as an annual grant for a period of up to twelve months; applications must be submitted no later than three months after the start of the fiscal year. The application is evaluated based on the number of clubs, number of members, competition days, association staff, and a quality factor for sports association management.
Numerous cost items are eligible for funding, including expenses for game and competition operations, personnel costs in association administration, training and continuing education, association bodies, as well as external services such as accounting and payroll. Other eligible expenses include office supplies, travel, communication and insurance costs, real estate and room rentals, maintenance expenses, IT investments, energy costs, and bank fees. Costs for arbitration courts, legal and litigation fees, as well as expenses already covered by other sports funding, are not eligible. The funding amount is calculated from the cumulative sum of partial payments multiplied by the quality factor. The following documents must be attached to the application: application form “Basic Funding for Sports Associations,” electronic attachment “Club List,” checklist “Quality Features of Sports Association Management,” proof of employment extent of association staff, and the statute-approved financial statements of the previous year.
