Description
The Hermann Eiselen Scholarship Program of the fiat panis Foundation supports master’s students with outstanding achievements at the University of Hohenheim and, in exceptional cases, also external students whose thesis is supervised at Hohenheim. Funding is provided for research projects that develop practical solutions to combat undernutrition, malnutrition, and rural poverty in developing and emerging countries. Applications can be submitted at any time in an uncomplicated manner in the form of an informal short proposal. The grant can cover travel expenses, living costs, and research expenses to enable the stay in the respective country and optimally prepare data collection on site. The scholarship contributes to placing nutritional science, agricultural economics, or agricultural engineering issues in a development policy context and prepares young researchers for international cooperation.
For a successful application, enrollment in a master’s program at the University of Hohenheim or supervision by a university lecturer active there, as well as a clear development or tropical focus, are required. The submitted thesis must clearly address the objectives of the fiat panis Foundation and present action-oriented concepts for food security. Evaluation criteria include professional qualifications and examination results as well as the innovativeness and feasibility of the research findings. Required documents are a completed application form, a short proposal (maximum two pages), a CV, and a reference letter from the supervising person. Since a processing time of at least one month must be planned, timely submission before the planned departure is recommended.
