Description
The Hessian Program for Agri-Environmental and Landscape Management Measures (HALM 2) supports enterprises in Hesse in implementing particularly sustainable farming practices. The goal is to strengthen biodiversity as well as to protect water, soil, and climate, and to preserve the regional cultural landscape. Funding is provided for organic farming, diverse methods in arable farming and grassland extensification, as well as measures for species and habitat protection. Furthermore, concepts for cooperation between agricultural enterprises and other local stakeholders can be supported. The project duration may be up to 60 months; it is possible to apply for grants of up to EUR 50,000 per measure either once or annually.
Eligible applicants are owners of agricultural or viticultural enterprises in Hesse, as well as associations of active farm owners pursuant to § 8 GAPDZV with their business location in the federal state. Applications are submitted annually by October 1 for the following year; the payment request must be submitted within the joint application by May 15 of the commitment year. Required documents include the grant application, the payment request, and the joint application. The responsible approval authorities are the district offices in Hesse in cooperation with the Economic and Infrastructure Bank of Hesse (WIBank). Through this funding program, agricultural enterprises receive financial compensation for additional efforts or yield reductions and make a decisive contribution to sustainable landscape protection.
