Description
Assistance for living expenses for people with disabilities pursuant to § 8 K-ChG represents a permanent cash benefit in Carinthia to ensure the living and housing needs of persons with little or no own income. It is based on the net supplementary allowance rates of the ASVG and takes household communities into account with corresponding percentages, whereby singles or single parents receive 100%. The assessable income is determined according to § 6 K-ChG, whereby, for example, family allowance and care allowance are excluded. Supplementary allowances are granted to single parents and persons aged 60 and over who have raised children and do not receive their own pension. The benefit is divided into two components: coverage of living needs (food, clothing, personal care, household goods, heating, electricity as well as social and cultural participation) and coverage of housing needs (rent, operating costs, and charges).
Eligible persons can apply for this support around the clock – applications are submitted to the district administrative authorities or the Carinthian state government and are not subject to any time limits. Department 11 – Social Affairs, Housing and Labor Market of the Office of the Carinthian State Government coordinates the allocation of assistance and can, if necessary, also grant health insurance as an ancillary benefit. By combining social assistance-oriented grants with housing subsidies and labor market policy measures, comprehensive integration and equal opportunities are pursued. The goal is to guarantee subsistence-level provision and to sustainably promote participation in social life.
