Description

The funding program "Assistive Devices for People with Disabilities" of the State of Styria supports persons with disabilities in the acquisition, repair, and replacement of physical assistive devices. This includes, in particular, prosthetic limbs, orthopedic aids, and other necessary equipment that contribute to managing daily life. The funding rate depends on existing subsidies from other agencies such as social insurance or the Social Ministry Service and amounts to 30% in these cases. If only the State of Styria provides a subsidy, the support increases to 50%. In cases of hardship, up to 100% of the expenses may be covered. Losses or unusability due to intentional or grossly negligent behavior may be wholly or partially excluded from funding, taking into account the economic circumstances.

Eligible to apply are private individuals with disabilities who reside in Styria and for whom an assistive device is indispensable for daily living. Applications must be submitted no later than one month after the purchase or repair of the device. The application dossier must include proof of approval or rejection of subsidies by health insurance, the support fund of the health or pension insurance provider, as well as the Social Ministry Service, and income verification. Care aids are excluded from this. The procedure is free of charge and is handled by the Office of the Styrian State Government, Department 11 Social Affairs, Labor and Integration. The aim of this continuous funding opportunity is to sustainably ensure the participation and mobility of people with disabilities in everyday life.
