Description

Idea Labs – Anchoring ESD in Student Companies supports nationwide full-day workshops in which secondary school students as well as educational professionals and teachers become acquainted with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Participants develop practical concepts in interactive sessions to make their student companies more sustainable and to link social, economic, and ecological aspects. The workshops rely on proven methods of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and enable a systematic evaluation of submitted project ideas in terms of impact and feasibility through the use of the “Wow-How-Now Matrix.” Support is provided in kind through consulting, training, networking, and professional exchange and is open to both individuals and public institutions. Applications are accepted continuously, and the project duration is up to 36 months.

Cooperation partners include, among others, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research as well as the German Aerospace Center (DLR). Network partners from various federal states support local implementation, while the association goals connect e. V. accompanies execution and transfer. The aim is to integrate a sustainable corporate culture from the outset into school-based company startups and to empower teachers to guide their students in the long-term implementation of ecologically sustainable business models. By combining fundamental business principles with ESD approaches, young people are encouraged to take responsibility for their community and the environment. The Idea Labs thus provide a practical framework to effectively anchor sustainability in student projects.
