Disaster Response Equipment of Fire Departments

Disaster Response Equipment for Fire Departments supports the acquisition of specialized equipment for volunteer firefighters in Salzburg. As direct grants from the Disaster Fund, the funds are received by the Salzburg State Fire Brigade Association and passed on to local fire units. The aim of this continuously available funding is to strengthen operational readiness and disaster preparedness through the purchase of equipment that, according to § 3 No. 1 of the Disaster Fund Act (KatFG 1996), is suitable for eliminating disaster damage. Eligible for funding are public institutions, interest groups, and other associations. The measure is assigned to the thematic areas of disaster protection as well as labor & social affairs and has been applied as an open-ended grant since May 7, 2014. Only expenses related to the procurement of disaster response equipment are funded.

For the application process, the Salzburg State Fire Brigade Association submits a quarterly needs report to the Office of the Salzburg State Government. The applicable implementation regulations of the Federal Ministry of Finance are decisive. The legal basis is provided by the Disaster Fund Act 1996 and supplementary guidelines (§ 5 para. 2 b KatFG). This funding sustainably improves the technical equipment of volunteer fire departments to enable rapid and efficient action in emergency situations. Interested units prepare the quarterly requests according to the specifications in order to continuously benefit from the grants and to increase the resilience of disaster protection in the state of Salzburg.
