Description

Kulturkoffer Hessen enables non-profit organizations, public institutions, interest groups, and associations in Hesse to implement participatory and artistically creative educational projects for children and young people aged 3 to 27. Through cooperation between at least one cultural institution and one community-based facility, offerings are created that particularly reach participants with marginalized perspectives, people with disabilities, and residents of rural areas. The funding objective aims at more equitable cultural participation by focusing on innovative methods, aesthetic experiences, and active co-determination of all involved. Projects with interdisciplinary approaches from music, media, theater, or circus create spaces for encounters that strengthen the creative potential of young people and open new paths for artistic self-expression.

For funding as a grant, generally 70% of the eligible total costs (minimum €5,000) can be covered, including personnel and fee costs, project-related social security contributions, material costs, transport and travel expenses, as well as a material cost flat rate up to €10,000. Requirements include the registered office and implementation location in Hesse, voluntary and free or low-cost participation, and complementing the regular work of the partners. Selection is based on innovation, participatory implementation, removal of access barriers, cooperation, artistic focus, and priority for projects in rural areas. Applications with project description, formal details, financing plan, and required legal form proofs can be submitted until November 10, 2025. Projects start no earlier than February 15, 2026, and provide a platform to effectively advance equal opportunities in cultural education.
