Description

The funding program "Short-term care in senior care facilities in the state of Salzburg" offers an income-independent subsidy of €50 per day for up to 14 days per calendar year. The aim of this measure is to relieve caregiving relatives who need to attend to hospital stays, vacations, or other obligations. The subsidy is credited against the daily flat rate of the senior care home and is granted regardless of the income and assets of the applicants. A prerequisite is a temporary stay in a designated facility, which is defined as short-term care according to the current guideline and must be completed at least four weeks before a possible indefinite stay.

Eligible for funding are persons with their main residence in the state of Salzburg as well as Austrian citizenship (or equal status according to § 6 para. 3 of the Salzburg Social Assistance Act). The application must be submitted in writing within six months after the end of the short-term care stay and must include the fully completed application form. Payment is usually made to a domestic bank account; in exceptional cases, a postal money order is also possible. Through this uncomplicated direct funding, care recipients and relatives gain financial security and flexibility in organizing temporary care phases.
