Description
The "Landscape Aesthetic Design Measures" in the Hohe Tauern National Park (State of Salzburg) support regional initiative through financial subsidies for typical craft materials and traditional construction methods. Funding is provided for roofing with native wooden shingles (e.g., larch or spruce), pole fences, Pinzgau Girschten fences, stone hedges, natural stone walls, as well as wooden pole gates. The aim is to preserve and revive landscape-defining structures and to maintain the regional appearance. Eligible for funding are private individuals, interest groups, and associations with properties within the protected area. Funding applications can be submitted continuously – preferably by January 20th of each year – whereby approval by the National Park Board as well as on-site inspections and proper accounting are prerequisites for disbursement. Material, planning, and construction costs within the approved flat rates are credited; additional costs are generally borne by the applicant.
For the application, a fully completed funding request, a signed declaration of commitment, and all required official permits must be submitted. For associations or other organizations, proof of legal status and authorization to represent must also be provided. Approval and disbursement take place after successful review by the administration of the Salzburg National Park Fund. This funding aims to motivate local stakeholders to strengthen the aesthetic quality and ecological compatibility of the alpine cultural landscape and thus contribute to the long-term preservation of the unique natural and cultural heritage in the Hohe Tauern National Park.
