Description

Since its most recent revision in 2024, the Landscape Management Guideline of the state of Baden-Württemberg has supported a variety of nature conservation-oriented projects for the maintenance and development of cultural landscapes. Private individuals, companies, municipal authorities, as well as interest groups and associations can apply for grants within the framework of five-year contractual nature conservation agreements, investment measures, or special species protection and habitat design measures. Funding is provided, among other things, for measures related to habitat and landscape management, the acquisition of ecologically valuable land, investments in nature-friendly machinery and services, as well as integrated regional development in PLENUM and LEADER action areas. The goal is the sustainable preservation of biological diversity, the protection of endangered animal and plant species, and the promotion of environmentally compatible economic practices in agriculture and tourism.

Funding prerequisites include nature conservation objectives in accordance with the LPR and the timely submission of funding and payment applications. For contractual nature conservation (Part A), a payment request must be submitted by May 15 each year; for investments and other project components (Parts B–F), applications are generally submitted by November 15 for the following year. The maximum duration of funded projects is 60 months, with a minimum approval amount of 100 euros. State administrative authorities and landscape conservation associations offer advice and support. The Landscape Management Guideline makes an important contribution to the implementation of federal and state nature conservation objectives and provides impetus for sustainable development of rural areas.
