Literature: Literary Publications

The funding program "Literature: Literary Publications" is aimed at publishing houses, authors, literary associations, as well as editors of magazines with a (residential) base in Vienna or Austria. The focus is on grants for publishing activities, book presentations, book projects, book acquisitions, and magazine publications. In accordance with the provisions of the Art Promotion Act 1988, projects are supported that could not be realized, or not fully realized, without financial resources from the Arts and Culture Section of the Federal Ministry. With a budgeted volume of 2.9 million euros, the measure contributes to the sustainable anchoring of contemporary literature in Vienna’s cultural landscape and ensures stable framework conditions for literary offerings and publications.

Applications are submitted continuously through the responsible Federal Ministry, whereby proof of the applicant’s own contribution and economic viability is part of the funding requirements. Applications are assessed based on the criteria of viability without funding, own contribution, and secured financing. To apply, the general application form as well as the specific publishing funding form must be submitted. Since there are no deadline constraints, applicants can submit their project documents at any time and establish a solid project plan early on. The ongoing funding opportunity offers flexible support that is oriented to the needs of publishers and literary initiatives in Vienna and aims to strengthen the diversity and quality of literary publications.
