Description

The National Park and Area Premium is dedicated to the long-term preservation of the valuable cultural landscape in the Hohe Tauern National Park. Through financial subsidies, the traditional alpine grazing of cattle, sheep, and goats is promoted, as well as the maintenance and management of alpine forage areas. This program makes a significant contribution to environmental and nature conservation, strengthens regional agriculture, and simultaneously supports climate and resource protection. Interested parties benefit from a permanent funding opportunity, which is approved annually and paid out in the autumn.

Eligible for funding are natural or legal persons who act as owners, users, or lessees of a private or communal alpine pasture within the Hohe Tauern National Park. Requirements include, among others, the keeping of animals on designated alpine areas, their removal by no later than September 14, a veterinary certificate confirming freedom from parasites, as well as regular supervision of the herd including salt supply. Required documents include detailed grazing lists, land certificates, and, if applicable, proof of legal existence and authorization to represent organizations. Applications must be submitted annually in November/December through the Salzburg Chamber of Agriculture. Timely and complete submission ensures that the payment is made in December of the same year.
