Description

The peer advisors’ expense allowance in the federal state of Upper Austria compensates the time commitment of people with disabilities who accompany other affected individuals within the framework of the assistance conference according to the Upper Austrian Equal Opportunities Act. Peer advisors receive remuneration for their participation in the application process and up to two hours of preliminary consultation at the residence of the person seeking advice. This form of support strengthens experience exchange on an equal footing and helps to make decision-making processes more transparent and needs-oriented. The continuously available subsidies are open to private individuals and underscore the inclusive approach in the fields of social affairs as well as work & social affairs.

A prerequisite for funding is an ongoing application for the granting of a main benefit pursuant to § 8 para. 1 of the Upper Austrian Equal Opportunities Act as well as proof of completed training in accordance with §§ 45–47 of the Upper Austrian Social Professions Act. Funded are consultation hours at €10.50 per hour and travel expenses at the official mileage rate of €0.42 per kilometer or upon submission of corresponding tickets. Travel times are excluded. A formal application for reimbursement of expenses (form SGD_So_E34_Peerberatung) together with the proof of service secures the funding framework. Since the application deadline is permanently open, peer advisors can apply for their reimbursement at any time and thus contribute to equitable participation for all people with disabilities.
