Description

The Federal Chancellery provides grants for trips by school classes and student groups from the 9th grade onwards to bodies and institutions of the European Union in Brussels as well as other European cities. Up to 250 euros are available per participating person, whereby only travel costs and accommodation costs incurred after the application has been submitted are recognized. The aim is to bring young people closer to the significance of European integration for Austria and to enable a deeper understanding of the processes within the EU. Eligible for funding are classes from polytechnic schools, secondary and higher schools, as well as vocational schools, represented by the school administration, a school event coordinator, or an association. The funding is directed at private individuals, companies, and non-profit organizations based in Vienna.

Applications can be submitted continuously until the budget is exhausted and are decided upon according to the date of receipt. A prerequisite for approval is the electronic submission of a fully completed application form including the travel program, educational concept, list of participants, and a detailed cost calculation. Consent from the legal guardians must be confirmed, and overall financing must be secured. After approval, 85% of the funding amount is paid out in advance, with the remaining 15% following proper proof of use and accounting. This initiative makes an important contribution to promoting political education, democratic awareness, and European cohesion among young people.
