Description

Since November 13, 2013, the State of Styria has been honoring long-standing commitment to the care of foster children with a monthly pension ranging from €188.98 to €297.99. The purpose of this voluntary benefit is to recognize volunteer foster carers who have continuously cared for foster children for at least 15 years and have had their primary residence in Styria during that time. The exact amount of the pension depends on the duration of care and the number of foster children: For one to two children cared for, €188.98 is granted after 15 years, increasing to €261.65 after 20 years. For the care of three or more children, the amount rises from €225.32 after 15 years to €297.99 after 20 years.

Eligible for funding are all private individuals who have reached the age of 60 at the time of application, do not receive an equivalent benefit from another regional authority, and have not exercised foster care within the framework of an employment relationship. Applications can be submitted at any time and are unlimited. Prerequisites for payment are a completed funding application, confirmation from the youth welfare offices of the existence of a youth welfare order, as well as an overview of the duration of the care relationships and the number of foster children cared for. This straightforward funding opportunity provides planning security and sustainably appreciates the commitment of foster carers in the social sector.
