Description

School assistance in Upper Austria supports and accompanies students with disabilities in practical life areas and in meeting the academic requirements at private schools with public law status, practice schools, as well as general and vocational secondary schools and grammar schools. The goal is to enable individual support from school entry until the completion of the 21st year of life. Direct services include, for example, help with dressing and undressing, support with basic care and therapeutic measures, concentration and movement training, as well as emotional support and promotion of social contacts. Indirect services ensure the quality assurance of the assistance and include further training, coordination with teachers, participation in parent evenings, and comprehensive documentation. The subsidy is granted at 100% within the framework of the Upper Austrian Equal Opportunities Act and can be applied for continuously.

Eligible for funding are non-profit organizations and public institutions recognized as sponsoring organizations in accordance with § 27 of the Upper Austrian Equal Opportunities Act. Requirements for the service recipients include, among others, the main residence obligation in Upper Austria, a medical confirmation of the disability, and the absence of similar services under other legal provisions (except for the Upper Austrian Social Assistance Act 1998 and the Minimum Security Act). The funding covers personnel costs for school assistants, further training, organizational and documentation costs for a project duration of up to twelve months. A service contract in accordance with § 30 of the Upper Austrian Equal Opportunities Act must be concluded. To apply, the completed form must be submitted to the competent district administrative authority, along with proof of residence, medical certificate, and recognition notice; applications can be submitted at any time.
