Description
In Vienna, the Fonds Soziales Wien establishes socially supervised housing as a permanent form of residence that enables formerly homeless individuals to live independently with needs-based support. Designed as a grant, this program particularly supports elderly persons with chronic illnesses or special social hardships. The goal is to provide an adequate housing option where residents are individually accompanied by qualified professionals. Funding in the form of grants covers the costs of supervised housing, which are settled directly between FSW and service providers. Applications can be submitted at any time, as this is an ongoing funding opportunity effective since 01.01.2014. Further information is available from the Fonds Soziales Wien.
Those of particular interest are individuals who were formerly homeless or threatened with loss of housing and require professional support despite independent living. Requirements include main residence in Vienna, a history of homelessness or risk of housing loss, a minimum income at the level of the Vienna minimum social benefit, as well as Austrian citizenship or equivalent status. Individual needs assessments by FSW take into account the severity of social hardship, necessary intensity of care, chronic illnesses, and age. To apply, official photo ID, registration certificate, proof of citizenship and income, social insurance number, and relevant documents (e.g., marriage, divorce or death certificates, proof of care allowance) must be submitted in copy.
