Description
The START Student Scholarship of the Dürr Foundation Hamburg, in cooperation with the START Foundation, is aimed at young people with a migration background aged 14 and above from all types of schools and residing in Hamburg. Over a three-year funding period, the selected students receive both ideal support and educational funding totaling €3,500. The goal is to strengthen the personal development, social engagement, and democratic participation of the scholarship holders. Personal values, attitude, and reflective ability are as much in focus as the promotion of curiosity, social skills, and self-determined action. Through a diverse range of experiential educational formats, regional workshops, supraregional events, and digital community networking, a "Safer Space" is created where participants can exchange ideas and inspire each other.
Educationally relevant expenses, travel costs for START events, as well as participation fees for seminars and workshops are funded. Requirements for application include, in addition to the migration background, a minimum age of 14 years as of September 30, 2025, at least three further years of school attendance, and proof of school enrollment. The selection of scholarship holders is based on personality, motivation for engagement, and reflective ability. For the online application via START Campus, a letter of recommendation, proof of school attendance, and a motivation letter must be uploaded. Deadlines can be found at www.start-campus.de/registrierung. The program enables participants to actively shape their future, build networks, and benefit from the offerings of the START community in the long term.
