Daily allowance from accident insurance for institutional care

The daily allowance from accident insurance for institutional care supports insured persons in Vienna who remain in inpatient care for an extended period due to a work accident or occupational disease. From the 27th week of treatment onwards, a daily subsidy amounting to 1% of one-twelfth of the assessment basis is granted. The prerequisite is that there are no claims to family benefits and no receipt of a statutory pension or more than 50% of previous monetary and in-kind benefits – with a 50% share, the daily allowance is correspondingly reduced by half. Kindergarten children, pupils, and students are excluded from the benefit. The funding aims to buffer income losses and provide financial compensation for accident-related medical treatments.

The application can be submitted indefinitely and continuously to the umbrella organization of social insurance carriers or to the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection, Section II. Insured persons are private individuals who are exclusively covered by accident insurance and do not lose entitlement to sickness benefits under the ASVG. The legal basis is § 195 ASVG, which regulates accident insurance daily allowances for inpatient care. The benefit is part of social insurance benefits in the area of retirement and pension payments and is reported annually in the transparency database. This program thus ensures continuous financial relief during extended medical treatment and strengthens the social security of injured groups.
