The TGD serves to advise agricultural livestock holders as well as to manage animal populations. The goal is to maintain the health of food-producing animals and thereby ensure the safety, impeccable condition, and high quality of food of animal origin. A key factor in this is the reduction of pharmaceutical use.

Description
The Animal Health Service Burgenland (TGD) supports Austrian farmers and veterinarians in needs-based consulting and long-term management of livestock in food production. Within the framework of continuous funding opportunities, tailored measures such as health programs for cattle, pigs, sheep, and goats, parasite control, Maedi/Visna, PRRS, and Brucella ovis monitoring, as well as hoof care, are promoted. The aim of the grant is to sustainably maintain animal health, enhance food safety, and reduce the use of veterinary medicinal products in a sustainable manner. Cooperation between farm managers and veterinary professionals is intended to contribute to the improvement of animal welfare and product quality.
Eligible to participate are all agricultural enterprises and freelance or employed veterinarians in Burgenland engaged in the production of meat, milk, eggs, or other animal products. A prerequisite is the implementation of the measures specified in the respective work program in accordance with the valid Animal Health Service Regulation. Applications can be submitted at any time without deadline restrictions and require the submission of the veterinarians’ participation agreement, the farmer/veterinarian care contract, the TGD medicinal product user form, as well as the farm survey cover sheet.
