Description
The Top-Up Funding BBA2020 of the State of Vorarlberg specifically supports investment projects in the fields of digitalization, infrastructure, as well as infrastructure & urban development, and complements the federal funding for access, backhaul, and duct projects. It is aimed at companies and public institutions with a branch in Austria that act as providers of communication networks (according to § 3 No. 2 TKG) and can present a valid funding contract with the Federal Processing Agency (FFG) within the framework of the Access or Backhaul Program. A prerequisite for participation is that the project area is classified as underserved in the official broadband map. The funding is provided as a direct grant with a funding rate of up to 25% and is granted continuously until the budget is exhausted. Applications can be submitted at any time.
Among others, the expansion of next-generation access networks (NGA) to improve connectivity for private households, public educational institutions, companies, and mobile base stations, the modernization of existing backhaul facilities to close capacity gaps between the core network and feeder lines, as well as the installation of ducts as a basis for long-term fiber optic installations are funded. With a funding volume of approximately 0.5 million euros (reference number 1049162), the program makes a significant contribution to the comprehensive strengthening of broadband infrastructure in Vorarlberg. The responsible awarding authority is the Office of the Vorarlberg State Government, Department of General Economic Affairs.
