Description
The City of Vienna promotes the conversion and retrofitting of heating systems in owner-occupied homes and small garden residential houses with a one-time, non-repayable investment grant. The objective of this measure is the installation of highly efficient central heating systems based on alternative energy systems as well as the conversion of existing heating systems to particularly climate-friendly technologies. Funding covers 35% of the documented, reasonable total costs up to a maximum of €8,000; additionally, a special subsidy of €4,000 is available for geothermal measures. Applications can be submitted continuously since May 1, 2021 – there is no budget cap. Eligible expenses include the installation of heat pumps, biomass heating systems, or the use of geothermal energy; however, personal labor and pure material purchases are not recognized.
Interested owners and tenants of small garden residential houses must prove that the building serves as their primary residence. For the application, a detailed cost estimate or invoice, a consent declaration from the property owner or an excerpt from the land register, as well as, in the case of heat pumps and biomass heating systems, a confirmation from WIENENERGIE GesmbH that no district heating connection is possible, are required. The funding thus supports the sustainable decarbonization of the private housing stock, reduces heating costs, and makes an active contribution to climate and environmental protection. Interested parties can submit applications continuously and benefit from attractive conditions for modernizing their heating technology. Further information is available from the Housing Promotion Department of the City of Vienna.
