Description

The holiday program for seniors in Styria offers older people aged 60 and over with limited income a seven-day break in selected guesthouses. This free subsidy covers accommodation and full board and is financed half by the State of Styria and half by the district authorities. Participants enjoy a change of scenery in a rural setting (excluding Graz) and start each session on Tuesday with lunch, concluding with breakfast on the day of departure. Each session includes seven nights, during which beverages must be provided by the participants themselves. Arrival and departure are usually organized by bus through the district authority.

Funding is granted to private individuals with primary residence in Styria (excluding Graz), whose monthly net household income is below €1,547.62 (single persons) or €2,323.07 (couples/partnerships). Eligibility requires Austrian or EEA citizenship as well as the ability to independently manage the stay (care levels 1–2) or supervision by a companion (care levels 3–4). The 100% grant funding is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications must be submitted via the municipality of residence – for the first session by the end of March, and for all subsequent sessions at least four weeks before the start. Required documents include the completed application form, current proof of income, the “Notification of Relatives” form, a medical certificate if receiving care allowance, and confirmation from the municipality of residence. The resolutions and guidelines for the program are based on §16 of the Styrian Social Assistance Act and guarantee transparent processing without any legal entitlement to participation.
