Description
The state program grants subsidies for the planning and implementation of environmentally friendly construction measures in rail transport in Lower Austria. A direct subsidy is available as the type of funding, with applications able to be submitted continuously until the funding volume is exhausted. Public-law institutions and private companies are eligible to apply and benefit from financial support for the expansion of efficient local and regional transport routes. The focus of the funding is not only on the expansion of rail infrastructure but also on increasing user-friendliness through improved accessibility. This includes the demand-oriented expansion of Park & Ride and Bike & Ride facilities as well as the modernization of stops and stations. Additionally, noise mitigation renovations on existing routes are supported to reduce noise emissions and provide residents with a higher quality of life.
Eligible costs include, in addition to construction and planning expenses, all expenditures for the establishment and expansion of transport infrastructures as well as investments in Park & Ride and Bike & Ride locations. Noise control measures are also included. A prerequisite is that projects primarily serve regional interests and align with the goals and measures of the Lower Austrian State Mobility Concept. The funding measure aims for an environmentally sound and user-oriented expansion and strengthens the public transport network within the state. Comprehensive information on submission criteria, required documentation, and further procedures is provided by the responsible department of the Lower Austrian state government. The grant is awarded based on a private law agreement with the funding provider.
