Description
In Upper Austria, financial support is offered for the accompaniment of children with disabilities on the school bus. Eligible for funding are municipal authorities, bus operators, associations, and public institutions that employ the relevant personnel. The aim of the funding is to cover personnel costs as well as the proportional travel expenses of bus attendants who ensure the safe transport of the children. The grant is provided as a subsidy and can be applied for informally at the beginning of each school year. The funding period is unlimited, thereby ensuring continuous accompaniment.
A prerequisite for funding is a medical certificate confirming the necessity of an accompanying person as well as the submission of the application by the respective institution employing the attendant. Eligible expenses include personnel costs and travel expenses. For the application submission, an informal letter, route and vehicle deployment plans, a cost estimate for the school year, copies of the contract with the tax office for student transport, and the calculation of the travel cost shares are required. After the end of the school year, a final accounting must be submitted. The subsidy is paid out in three installments, with the final payment contingent upon the submission of the final accounting. This measure supports institutions in ensuring reliable and safe transportation of children with disabilities and provides financial relief to the carriers.
