Description
Since January 1, 2013, the permanently offered grant for the acquisition and barrier-free adaptation of a motor vehicle in Vienna is aimed at privately entitled persons with a degree of disability of at least 50% and corresponding entry in the disability pass, who are unable to use public transport for health reasons. This funding instrument combines social participation and climate protection by supporting climate-friendly mobility solutions and enabling the individual adaptation or conversion of a vehicle to disability-related requirements. Eligible expenses include both the acquisition costs and all costs for barrier-free equipment, such as lifting and hoisting systems, hand controls, or special driving aids. The goal is to enable self-determined everyday mobility and to specifically promote professional integration—whether for commuting to employment, vocational training, or job searching.
The funds are granted as a one-time, non-repayable subsidy from the Equalization Tax Fund of the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection and are administered through the Social Ministry Service. Applications can be submitted at any time and are processed promptly after verification of the funding requirements. Through transparent and unbureaucratic allocation, a sustainable offering is created that complements existing infrastructure concepts and aligns inclusively in the long term. Expert advisors provide information on funding details and processing steps and assist with the preparation of the application. This funding not only improves individual quality of life but also contributes to strengthening barrier-free structures in Vienna—for an inclusive society in which all people can participate equally in professional and social life.
