About the funder
The Dr. Franz-Josef Kreuels Foundation was established in 2001 by the heir of the Cologne physician Dr. Franz-Josef Kreuels. It promotes education sustainably through the financing of scholarships and additional support services. The foundation relies on its initial capital, endowments, and two foundation-owned properties for asset security. Under its umbrella, it also manages four trust foundations that specifically support individual educational initiatives.

Mission & Vision
Our mission is to promote education as a key to a better future. We connect people with shared ideas and goals and provide sustainable support where individuals or institutions can achieve significant impact with our assistance. Through the awarding of scholarships, we recognize outstanding achievements in training and studies as well as social commitment. Special focus is placed on youth and adult education, international understanding, and the support of small private educational institutions.
Target groups
Our funding programs are aimed at young people in vocational training or university studies who achieve academic success and are engaged in social or educational fields. We particularly support students who are actively involved in youth and adult education, foreigners in Germany, and Germans abroad. Furthermore, we support the socio-educational work of small, private educational institutions and initiatives such as youth centers and student centers.
