Fonds zur Förderung der wissenschaftlichen Forschung
About the funder
The Fonds zur Förderung der wissenschaftlichen Forschung (FWF) is the central Austrian funding organization for basic scientific research. It supports investigator-driven projects at universities and non-university research institutions, promotes careers through its own programs (e.g., Erwin Schrödinger, doc.funds), coordinates multilateral and thematic initiatives (ERA-NETs, European Partnerships, Belmont Forum), and implements measures for science communication and open science. With a broad funding portfolio including individual and large-scale projects, special research areas, career programs, and publication support, the FWF makes an important contribution to the excellence, networking, and visibility of the Austrian research landscape.
