About the funder

The Günther Rid Foundation for Bavarian Retail is a legally recognized, non-profit foundation under civil law, established in 1988 by Dr. Günther Rid from the entrepreneurial success of the company BETTENRID. Its central goal is the free advanced training and continuing education of emerging leaders and decision-makers in the medium-sized retail sector throughout Bavaria. Annually, around 1,000 retailers participate in seminars, webinars, and coaching programs on topics such as e-commerce, technology, strategy, marketing, leadership, personal development, and city marketing. Furthermore, the foundation promotes innovation formats such as Future Retail Store, Retail Tour, and Retail Talk to practically test new business models and trends in retail.

Mission & Vision

"We create the future!" – The Rid Foundation supports the Bavarian medium-sized retail sector by providing excellent knowledge and practical skills free of charge. We believe that entrepreneurial success depends less on company size and more on qualification and the willingness to engage in lifelong learning. Therefore, we assist entrepreneurs, senior employees, and emerging leaders in actively shaping trends, implementing innovations, and preserving the diversity of urban culture.

Target groups

Entrepreneurs, senior executives, and emerging leaders of the medium-sized retail sector in Bavaria are supported. The programs target specialty stores of all sales formats and disciplines that seek to strengthen their competitive position against international corporations through practical qualification measures and innovative formats such as innovation competitions, congresses, and pilot projects.
