Mission & Vision

The Hapag-Lloyd Foundation understands, promotes, and enables education and training, art and culture, science, and social participation not as an elitist luxury, but as an essential part of life. It sets accents for an attractive and vibrant Elbe metropolis and sees itself as a partner of selected cultural, scientific, and social institutions that shape Hamburg’s reputation and have become cherished by its citizens across generations.

Target groups

Primarily supported are cultural, scientific, and social projects and institutions focused on Hamburg, which have become cherished by citizens across generations. Special attention is given to youth and talent development, with both established institutions and smaller, one-time initiatives receiving short-term and needs-based support.
