About the funder

The Jung Foundation for Science and Research is committed nationally, internationally, and interdisciplinarily to the advancement of human medicine. It supports basic and clinically relevant follow-up research, thereby contributing to the development of new therapies. Annually, the foundation awards three highly endowed prizes (Jung Prize for Medicine, Jung Medal for Medicine in Gold, and Jung Career Advancement Award) with a total volume of up to 540,000 euros. Additionally, it funds five fellowships in the field of human medicine and one fellowship in medical history at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, as well as participates in three Germany Scholarships for medical students at the University of Hamburg. In total, the annual funding amounts to up to 650,000 euros.

Mission & Vision

The Jung Foundation is committed to promoting outstanding research in human medicine and creating platforms for scientific exchange across national and disciplinary boundaries. Our goal is to support innovations in medical research through awards, fellowships, and scholarships, thereby actively advancing the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic methods.

Target groups

The funding programs of the Jung Foundation are aimed at outstanding medical researchers and early-career professionals at various levels: leading researchers advancing clinically relevant basic research; early-career scientists, particularly through the Jung Career Award and fellowships; medical students at the University of Hamburg (Germany scholarships); historians of medical history (Medical History Fellowship); and recipients of the Jung Medal, who award a scholarship to a young researcher.
