About the funder
The Karin Elisabeth Loos Foundation is a non-profit private foundation established in 1999 through a legacy, based in Wiesbaden. It supports the natural sciences in the Hessian state capital in two ways: annually awarding a grant prize of up to 3,000 euros to students of Wiesbaden grammar schools and secondary schools with outstanding, long-term achievements in the natural sciences (chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, computer science) and awarding a medical prize to the Society for the Promotion of Research at DKD e.V., earmarked for research projects in the fields of nephrology and tumor diseases at the German Clinic for Diagnostics.

Mission & Vision
The Karin Elisabeth Loos Foundation is committed to sustainably strengthening young talents in the natural sciences and medical research in Wiesbaden. Through financial recognition of outstanding achievements by students and targeted research funding, it aims to inspire interest in scientific and medical excellence and secure it for the long term.
Target groups
The funding programs of the Karin Elisabeth Loos Foundation are aimed, on the one hand, at students with a high school diploma from Wiesbaden grammar schools and secondary schools who have demonstrated outstanding academic or extracurricular achievements in scientific subjects over many years and who intend to pursue a degree in a scientific or related field; and, on the other hand, at researchers in the fields of nephrology and tumor diseases at the German Clinic for Diagnostics, who are supported through the Foundation's Medical Award.
