About the funder

The Cultural Foundation of the Public Insurance Oldenburg is a regionally active foundation, established in 1994 as part of the reorganization of the ownership rights of Öffentliche Oldenburg. From an endowment of approximately 20 million DM, the proceeds are used to support cultural third-party projects in the former state of Oldenburg. Focus areas include visual arts, music, literature, theater, as well as the preservation and promotion of cultural values. Since its founding, over 800 funding applications have been approved. Major projects include the construction of the Small House of the Oldenburg State Theatre, co-financing of the Horst Janssen Museum Oldenburg, the Wilhelmshaven Naval Museum, and the renovation of the Wangerooge Lighthouse. Decisions on funding are made by the foundation’s board, taking into account quality criteria and regional balance.
