About the funder

The Kulturstiftung des Bundes is a federally owned foundation established in 2002, headquartered in Halle an der Saale. It supports cross-disciplinary and international cultural projects with particular artistic or social significance. Twice a year, it selects innovative initiatives from all art disciplines in its General Project Funding. Additionally, it develops its own programs on key topics such as diversity, inclusion, sustainability, and digitalization. Besides providing funding, the foundation offers consulting, networking formats, academies, and final festivals to support professional exchange and strengthen the impact of the funded projects.

Mission & Vision

The Kulturstiftung des Bundes is committed to strengthening cultural diversity and social participation through the promotion of art and culture of outstanding contemporary significance. We initiate and support innovative projects and programs that provide impetus for national and international cultural discourse, foster cooperation, and place the transformative power of cultural practice at the center.

Target groups

The funding programs of the Kulturstiftung des Bundes are aimed at non-commercial cultural institutions and networks both domestically and internationally, as well as at independent artists and artist groups who collaborate in structurally embedded projects. Projects from all artistic disciplines are supported – ranging from visual arts, performing arts, literature, music, film, media, and architecture to programs of cultural mediation and structural support in smaller towns and municipalities.
