Kurt-Wolff-Stiftung zur Förderung einer vielfältigen Verlags- und Literaturszene
About the funder
The Kurt Wolff Foundation for the Promotion of a Diverse Publishing and Literary Scene was founded on October 17, 2000, by independent publishers together with the then Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, Dr. Michael Naumann. It represents the interests of German indie publishers and has been headquartered since March 2002 in the House of Books in Leipzig. The foundation annually awards prizes for lifetime achievement and outstanding publishing programs, organizes panel discussions at book fairs, publishes a catalog ('It's About the Book'), and maintains international networks. It is financed through funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, donations, and contributions from the Circle of Friends of Independent Publishers.
