About the funder

The Foundation for People with Disabilities, Harz-Weser was established in 2009 as a legally capable foundation under civil law. It pursues exclusively charitable purposes and was founded by the Lebenshilfe associations Eichsfeld, Einbeck, Holzminden, Northeim, Südharz, as well as the Harz-Weser-Werke gGmbH. The foundation capital is used to support projects and initiatives in the long term that provide direct benefits to children, adolescents, and adults with physical, intellectual, or psychological impairments, as well as their relatives. The capital remains untouched; available funds come from donations and income.

Mission & Vision

People with disabilities have a right to self-determination and equal participation in social life. Together with those affected, their relatives, and supporters, the foundation advocates for the acceptance of people with disabilities in their individuality and enables them to lead their lives independently and according to their own choices. It complements and strengthens the work of its founding benefactors and supports regional projects that cannot be financed from ongoing funds.

Target groups

The funding programs are aimed at more than 2,000 people with physical, intellectual, or psychological disabilities, including children, adolescents, and adults. They benefit from services in the areas of work, housing, education, early intervention, and leisure activities. Additionally, the foundation supports relatives, caregivers, and initiatives advocating for the interests of people with disabilities in the Harz-Weser region.
