About the funder
The Stiftung Mainzer Herz is a legally recognized foundation under civil law based in Mainz. It promotes research, teaching, and patient care at the Center for Cardiology of the University Medical Center Mainz. Its primary focus is the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, particularly coronary heart disease and heart attacks. Furthermore, the foundation supports interventional therapies such as cardiac catheterization, stent implantation, treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, peripheral vascular diseases, and cardiovascular shock. A new research emphasis is on the health consequences of climate change (air pollution, environmental noise, greenhouse gases, heart-healthy urban design). Additionally, the foundation is committed to the training of nursing staff and physicians as well as to prevention projects for children and adolescents.
