Stiftung Mainzer Herz

The Stiftung Mainzer Herz is a legally recognized foundation under civil law based in Mainz. It promotes research, teaching, and patient care at the Center for Cardiology of the University Medical Center Mainz. Its primary focus is the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, particularly coronary heart disease and heart attacks. Furthermore, the foundation supports interventional therapies such as cardiac catheterization, stent implantation, treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, peripheral vascular diseases, and cardiovascular shock. A new research emphasis is on the health consequences of climate change (air pollution, environmental noise, greenhouse gases, heart-healthy urban design). Additionally, the foundation is committed to the training of nursing staff and physicians as well as to prevention projects for children and adolescents.

The Stiftung Mainzer Herz is committed to the strategic fight against cardiovascular diseases. Through targeted support of research, teaching, and patient care at the Center for Cardiology, it aims to accelerate the development and dissemination of effective prevention and treatment methods. In addition to traditional interventions, the focus is also on an interdisciplinary approach to researching environmental and climate factors as well as the training of nursing and medical staff.

The funding programs of the Stiftung Mainzer Herz are aimed at scientists and clinical researchers in the fields of cardiology and environmental medicine, nursing professionals and medical staff in training or further education, educators and students of the Children's Health Academy for prevention, institutions and research consortia (e.g., the EU consortium MARKOPOLO), as well as applicants for science and nursing awards and scholarships.
