About the funder

The Stiftung Weltkirche is a legal, public, and ecclesiastical foundation under civil law based in Mainz. Founded in June 2007 by the Diocese of Mainz, it is dedicated to the idealistic and material support as well as the promotion of church missionary, development, and peace work carried out worldwide from the Diocese of Mainz. The foundation's capital is permanently preserved, and its proceeds are specifically directed towards selected projects and initiatives in disadvantaged regions, thereby strengthening peace, justice, and sustainable development in the long term.

Mission & Vision

The Stiftung Weltkirche sees itself as an instrument of global solidarity of the Catholic Church: It aims to enable needy individuals and communities to improve their living conditions and to shape their future independently. Through the sustained support of mission, development, and peace projects, it contributes to reducing injustices, strengthening intercultural dialogue, and raising awareness of global interconnections within the Diocese of Mainz.

Target groups

The target group of the Stiftung Weltkirche consists of church initiatives, projects, and partner organizations in countries of the Global South as well as in crisis regions, engaged in the fields of mission, development, peace, and emergency aid. It is aimed at local communities, church institutions, and individuals who rely on material support, ideological guidance, and long-term partnerships to initiate sustainable processes of change.
