The Wilhelm and Christine Hirschmann Foundation was established in January 2009 by Christine and Wilhelm Hirschmann in Treuchtlingen and endowed with substantial cash and real estate assets (including the Hotel Stadthof Treuchtlingen). The foundation's statutes specify the promotion of art, monument preservation, literature, and education primarily in the Middle Franconia region as its purpose. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded numerous literature and art prizes as well as project grants (e.g., book projects, amphitheater for kindergartens, P.E.N. Center) with amounts ranging from several hundred to tens of thousands of euros.
