1000 Benches for Cologne

The Cologne Green Foundation invites private individuals, associations, companies, and other organizations to participate in the "1000 Benches for Cologne" campaign. With a designated donation of €950 per bench, the manufacturing and installation costs for the characteristic green wire mesh bench within the city area or the anthracite-colored variant in cemeteries are covered. The goal is to sustainably enhance the quality of stay in the historic green spaces and cemeteries of the city of Cologne. Thanks to the continuously open funding opportunity, interested parties can request a location at any time and have an individual donation plaque designed with a personal inscription. The Cologne Green Foundation takes care of the concrete setting or fastening on site, ensuring that each bench is securely and permanently anchored.

Eligible for funding are all actors who wish to support public green spaces through a donation. A prerequisite is the coordination of the desired location with the foundation before commissioning, as well as the submission of the completed bench agreement and proof of payment. Evaluation is based on the availability of the location and compliance with organizational requirements to ensure that mowing and maintenance work can be carried out unhindered. Since there are no fixed deadlines, donation applications can be submitted at any time. This campaign creates a visible connection between committed citizens and Cologne’s green oases – a meaningful investment in the cityscape and climate efficiency.
