Description
“Architecture Goes to School” is an innovative cultural-architectural education and networking project by the Laves Foundation that connects schools and young people in Lower Saxony with architects and urban planners. The program aims to convey cultural-architectural education, deepen the understanding of architecture and urban planning, and set sustainably effective impulses for teaching. Through training courses for teachers, practical city tours, construction site visits, and visits to architectural offices, the project fosters enthusiasm for quality-conscious design and strengthens the imagination of students of all school types. In parallel, a pool of teaching concepts and model building materials is being developed, to which teachers and architects can actively contribute. This creates a long-term digital repository that bundles sustainable teaching offerings and best-practice examples for different grade levels.
Eligible to participate are schools, teachers, as well as architects and urban planners based in Lower Saxony. In addition to content support, the program also offers financial grants for school projects in the fields of architecture and urban planning. Applications can be submitted at any time, allowing the funding to be flexibly integrated into everyday school life. “Architecture Goes to School” is equally aimed at interested students and subject teachers who wish to realize innovative projects together with experts. Through close cooperation with a statewide distribution network, individual interests are taken into account, ranging from workshops to internship offers. This creates a vibrant network that sustainably anchors cultural-architectural education and sensitizes young people to a designed environment.
