Description

The renovation of the Prater Studios is being promoted as a flagship project for sustainable monument preservation and environmentally responsible construction. Funded by the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility (NextGeneration EU), a budget of up to €10 million is allocated to the revitalization of the historic studio complex. Taking into account the federal cultural heritage guidelines, modern planning and participation procedures are employed that both safeguard monument conservation concerns and meet the highest standards of energy efficiency and climate protection. The measures include the ecological modernization of building components, energy optimization of technical systems, as well as the integration of renewable energies. Completion is scheduled no later than June 30, 2026, with funds exclusively dedicated to the renovation works of the Prater Studios.

The funding measure targets public and non-profit organizations in the cultural sector, artists, and cultural practitioners involved in the new and continued use of the studios. Applications can be submitted continuously until the budget is exhausted; there is no separate deadline. The responsible Art and Culture Section of the competent Federal Ministry oversees the process, ensures professional guidelines, and provides support for application-related inquiries. This initiative not only sustainably secures a historically significant ensemble but also firmly establishes the societal value of contemporary art production and guarantees stable framework conditions for artists.
