Contributions to Private Schools

The State of Styria supports private schools in Styria through annual grants for ongoing operating costs. Funding is provided to educational institutions organized as associations or private law companies and headquartered in the state of Styria. The aim of this measure is to strengthen the financial foundation of private school providers and thereby ensure high-quality educational operations in the long term. Interested providers must submit their application by September 15 each year, including, among other documents, a current extract from the association register or commercial register as well as a detailed description of the institution.

Eligible expenses are exclusively those serving the ongoing operation of the school, such as room and administrative costs, procurement of teaching materials, or personnel costs. Proof of use is provided through a prescribed list of vouchers including original invoices and payment receipts, as well as an activity report. An exemption application for stamp duties and federal administrative fees is not required, as these are automatically granted. The responsible authority for processing is Department 6 Education and Society of the Styrian Provincial Government. With this funding initiative, the state makes an important contribution to the diversity of the local educational offerings and facilitates planning security for private school providers for the upcoming school year.
