Description
The “Contribution to the Plant Health of Vines” supports vine propagation businesses based throughout Austria in the purpose-bound financing of the health of vine propagation material. An annual flat-rate contribution of €0.008 per vine approved for marketing is levied and administered as a subsidy through the Association of Austrian Vine Graft Producers (VÖR). This parafiscal revenue of the federal government directly serves the maintenance of vine health and helps to sustainably secure plant protection measures. The amount of the annual contribution revenue varies according to the number of vines marketed and is centrally collected, purpose-bound managed, and ultimately paid out as funding to the businesses.
Eligible for funding are companies in the field of vine propagation that actively contribute to the marketing of vines and thus share in the financing of plant protection. A prerequisite for a grant is a positive resolution by the annually convened Vine Marketing Advisory Board as well as the submission of a funding application to the VÖR. After signing the funding contract, the payment of the contribution is initiated. The funding period is 12 months each time; there is no fixed application deadline, as contributions are continuously made until the budget is exhausted. The transparent processing is carried out on the basis of the Vine Marketing Act 1996 (§ 18 para. 5) and the General Framework Guidelines for Federal Funding.
