Description

The program supports the cross-border dissemination of European fictional works through financial grants for translation, publication, distribution, and marketing activities. Eligible applicants include small and medium-sized enterprises, non-profit and public institutions, educational providers, start-ups, as well as private individuals from all EU member states. With a total budget of €5 million for the 2026 funding year, the program supports up to 40 projects that present a convincing strategy for the selection of works, cooperation within the book value chain, and the promotion of reading. Applications must include the standardized application form "CREA CULTURE," a detailed budget table, and a declaration regarding publications. The deadline for submission to the European Commission is 29 January 2026 at 17:00 CET.

The evaluation criteria include the quality of the concept, the contribution to expanding transnational literary circulation and achieving EU horizontal priorities (digitalization, Green Deal, inclusion), as well as fair remuneration and visibility conditions for translators. Funding is provided not only for traditional print editions but also for innovative formats such as e-books and audio productions, provided they contribute to reading promotion and cultural diversity. Special attention is given to literary works in less widely spoken languages as well as projects involving Ukrainian authors and translators. Through measures to enhance the visibility of translators on covers and in publications, the program contributes to the professionalization and appreciation of the translation profession. Thus, the funding makes a central contribution to cultural diversity and the integration of the European book market.
