Description
The University of Bremen Foundation awards prizes within its prestigious award format "The Golden Plietsch" for outstanding project ideas in the fields of research & innovation, science, education for sustainable development, as well as training and further education. Funding is provided to students, researchers, and other members of the University of Bremen with a close affiliation to the university, whose projects make a clear contribution to sustainability, climate protection, and climate justice. With financial support ranging from €1,000 to €5,000, forward-looking concepts are recognized that distinguish themselves through innovation and societal relevance.
Applications must include a detailed project description, including a financing plan and information about contributors. Additionally, the "Action Potentials for the Design of the Sustainability Strategy" as well as evidence of the planned impact and feasibility of the project are required. The jury evaluates based on the criteria of sustainability contribution, impact and improvements, as well as feasibility. A public presentation of the projects before the jury and audience on January 28, 2026, completes the selection process. The application deadline ends on the same day with the public award session. This funding format is aimed at all university members who wish to develop concrete solutions for a more sustainable future with their initiative.
